You gave us 12 great years. You put up with way more crap than anyone should have.

I’m so sorry to see you go… but I’m so happy that you told the Yankees to take their offer and shove it. They showed even less respect to you than usual this year and at some point, enough is enough. I have no idea how we’ll do without you Joe, and you will be greatly missed, but I’m glad that you don’t have to put up with the Steinbrenner bullshit anymore. I have no idea how you did it for so long.

Good for you. And don’t think we’ll forget you anytime soon. To New York, you’ll always be a Yankee. Well, unless you ever go to Boston. Don’t do that, okay?
