There IS crying in baseball!
Oh Hell!

I know exactly how you feel, kid. We all do. It’s heartbreaking, especially after clawing our way back from one of the worst season starts in New York history to actually make the post-season (thanks in a large part to Alex Rodriguez). The Yankees have fallen to the Tribe and the 2007 season of baseball is over for those of us in New York. Truly, I don’t feel as bad about our elimination as I did last year. The Indians proved themselves to be a better team (at least in consistent pitching), as opposed to last year’s Tigers, who we definitely should have beaten. The Indians … well hell, even if they did sick their plague of mayflies on us in Game 2 to “steal” a victory from our beloved Joba, their approach at the plate throughout the series created major problems for our (few effective) pitchers. Their pitchers were (mostly) consistent and effective. Ours, with the exception of Pettitte (and Hughes in relief), were not. And honestly, how far could we have gone towards a world championship with Clemens injured and only 2 effective relievers in the bullpen? Yikes. It was a good push and a great second half of the season, but we fell short. It happens. It’s a miracle we were in it at all.
The thing that really DOES break my heart is the possibility of Joe Torre being dismissed as manager of our Yanks. Ridiculous. I’m not even going to try to make the argument, his resume speaks for itself. Steinbrenner is an idiot if he lets him go; I don’t care how many years it’s been since we’ve won the World Series. Many teams don’t make the post-season more than once every 10 years or so and Joe brings us every year. He is probably the only manager who could have kept his players from total panic when they were playing so badly early in the season. Also, if I were Mo or Posada, I would CERTAINLY not re-sign without Joe Torre slated to manage in 2008. A-Rod may leave us, and although I believe that to be a mistake for him, I can understand why. We could be seeing a very very different team next year. Let’s all just hope and pray that the Yankees organization doesn’t go all crazy paranoid and revert to trading our young talent for fading superstars. Oh please PLEASE do not revert to that approach! I had damn well better see the following players next year, no matter what: Cano, Cabrera, Hughes, Kennedy, Chamberlain. I had best not see some all-out bailing of this damaged ship, or there may be spilt blood in the Bronx. I have a nasty temper, you know. George, Hal, Cashman… consider yourselves warned.
New York fans are a tough lot. A loss is something we can accept. The taking our our Skipper, or of our best young talent, is not… but I suppose we’ll see how it all unfolds.
It’s going to be a long winter, but spring WILL come. It always does.

All things Yankees should be boycotted. The Steinbrenner’s are not only clueless, moronic, and just plainly stupid. They’re also vile miscreants! They should be exposed and excommunicated from MLB. I urge a boycott by all fans (non Yankees’ fans too) and an investigation by all journalists.
Clueless, Moronic, AND plainly stupid? All three, huh? Sorry, I thought that was all the same thing. The Steinbrenners should be exposed (uh, by the way… everyone already knows George is an ass) and excommunicated? This isn’t a religion, buddy. It’s a game. If you have the money, you can play. Those are the rules, like it or not. Why don’t you go gather yourself a few hundred million bucks and buy your own team? Bitter, bitter…
