Yankees Rookie Hazing Pictures!!
I’ve been waiting for this all year. Most Major League teams make their rookies dress up in ridiculous costumes after their last home game, or at some point late in the season, and have them remain in costume for the trip to whatever out of town ballpark they’re headed to next. I love this tradition, and I love looking at these pictures every year from all the teams.
It’s always fun to watch. Last year, Melky and the other Yankee Rookies all dressed as George Steinbrenner. I still fondly remember Wang and my favorite Robbie dressed as Yankees’ Cheerleaders in 2005. Apparently, Dice-K had to go through customs in Toronto this year dressed as a Teletubby. There are so many…but the photos coming from the Pirates camp this year are PARTICULARLY DISTURBING.
The Yankees have so many rookies this year, I was really wondering what they were going to do with all of them. Well, apparently they decided to stage a full-scale production of The Wizard of Oz. Well, at least they got suited up for it. Oh yeah, baby… Check out the Yanks’ costumes first at River Ave Blues, then go check out this entire photoset of the event.
For a nice overall review of the rookie hazing pranks all around the league, check out the nice photo roundup at 100% Injury Rate.
What it all comes down to is that baseball is wrapping up the season. What am I gonna do all winter??
